    Good This: KiiKii’s Delulu Pack

The video for KiiiKiii’s ‘Delulu’ attracted a fair bit of attention recently, and rightly so. It is really well shot, visually grabbing and matches the unique sound and style the group have had from the very beginning. Their debut EP ‘UNCUT GEM’ showed the group’s full potential right from the start, with graphics and album art depicting simple jars and products with the group name on (alongside the traditional concept photos showing off the new girls.) The EP itself was even available inside an engagement ring style box.

‘404 (New Era)’ has been their biggest hit to date however, and it is deserved. Punchy, catchy and direct without sounding like the other current hits. A more direct pop tune than others on the EP, I can see this being one of the big players in the genre this year. ‘Dizzy’ and ‘To Me From Me’ round the project out nicely, slower tracks yes but by no means boring.

    A new era indeed!

    Good That: Book of Churches

It’s perhaps a cop-out to describe an album as ‘lovely’, but ‘Book Of Churches’ is exactly that. From the opening strums of ‘Song By A Stranger’ the album embraces you in a warmth that doesn’t let up throughout.

‘All The Good Things’ is a standout track from the project, sounding as if Fleet Foxes’ ‘Shore’ was written about the British coast.

The quality songwriting continues, with ‘Big Love’ another highlight and album closer ‘Stones In Your Bag’ being a poignant, beautiful way to end the project. “You’re sleeping, I’m looking at a stone uncovered by the tide two hundred million years ago”.

    Lovely stuff.
